Welcome to the Central Library of the Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna). The Central Library is housed in a magnificent multi-storeyed building equipped with modern amenities and facilities, providing a conducive environment for learning, teaching, research, and academic activities.
The Library is committed to supporting the academic and research needs of the Institute’s community by providing seamless access to a wide range of print and electronic resources, including books, e-books, journals, e-journals, databases, theses, and other scholarly materials.
Our Mission
The mission of the Central Library is to provide comprehensive information services and facilitate access to bibliographic information and full-text print and digital resources to meet the scholarly, educational, and informational needs of students, faculty, researchers, staff, and other authorized users.
The Library strives to promote knowledge discovery, research excellence, lifelong learning, and effective utilization of information resources through modern library technologies and user-oriented services.

Thesis & Dissertations Repository(IDR)

IITP Digital Repository is a digital platform for collecting, preserving, and disseminating the Institute’s scholarly and intellectual resources. It supports digital preservation and scholarly communication, with copyright retained by the Central Library, IIT Patna, unless otherwise stated.

E-Journals Access through ONOS

The Prime Minister of India in his address to the Nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on 15th August, 2022, had pointed out the importance of Research and Development in our country in the Amrit Kaal.

Thesis & Dissertation Self-Submission

The Central Library, IIT Patna has developed a self-submission workflow that enables students and scholars to directly upload their theses, dissertations, and project reports to the Institute’s Digital Repository. This streamlined process facilitates efficient submission, review, preservation, and dissemination of the Institute’s scholarly output.

Circulation Division

The Circulation Division manages the issue, return, renewal, and reservation of library resources, ensuring efficient access to collections and user-focused circulation services for the IIT Patna community.

This division performs the following functions:
1. Registers new members and renewal / extension of membership.
2. Sends reminders through e-mail to return the books and renew them online.
3. Informs the members to collect the reading material against reservation.
4. Recall notices to users for reserved books.
5. Replacement of lost books and lost book repayment for clearance.
6. Issues the Library Clearance Certificates (No Dues).
7. Checks incoming and outgoing materials thoroughly.
